Dr. Mike Curme joined Miami University's economics department in 1988.  He was named Associate Dean for undergraduate programs in the Farmer School of Business in 2007.  He began serving as full-time Associate Vice President and Dean of Students in June 2014.

Dr. Fears is the Associate Dean of Students for Transition and Assessment. She began her position at Miami in August 2011. Gwen oversees the offices of New Student ProgramsParent and Family Programs, and Residence Life. Additionally, she works on assessment initiatives for the division of Student Affairs. Gwen earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Utah and completed her Master of Science in Student Affairs in Higher Education and Bachelor of Arts in Technical Journalism from Colorado State University. Prior to coming to Miami, Gwen worked at the University of Utah and Western State College of Colorado gaining experience in orientation, leadership development, parent programming, National Student Exchange, and academic advising.

Dr. John Ward began serving as the Director of Student Counseling Service in March, 2018 approximately 15 years after he joined Miami University. Prior to overseeing a committed and talented team of mental health professionals, he served as Coordinator of Men’s Services, Assistant Director for Clinical Services, and Associate Director. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Comparative Religion from Miami University and a Master of Arts in Psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. Dr. Ward is a licensed clinical psychologist.  Dr. Ward’s clinical and professional expertise are in diversity and inclusion, psychological supervision and training, gatekeeper training, as well as establishing campus and community mental health partnerships.

Dr. Christina Carrubba-Whetsine

Dr. Carrubba-Whetsine is the Director for the Rinella Learning Center, prior to becoming Director, she worked as the Associate Director for the Rinella. Dr. Carrubba-Whetstine recently completed her Ph.D. at Miami University and has worked in the Rinella Learning Center for over 10 years.

Rebecca Baudry YoungRebecca Baudry Young

Rebecca Baudry Young joined Miami University’s staff in 2010 as the Director for the Office of Student Wellness. Rebecca provides leadership and expertise to Miami University’s strategic plan to address high risk alcohol behaviors. Rebecca supervises the development and implementation of bystander education, peer education programming, risk reduction and prevention strategies for sexual assault and high risk alcohol behaviors, and professional development for campus partners. She also serves as a liaison for Miami University to the Coalition for a Healthy Community, Oxford to develop environmental strategies that enhance a culture of care, concern and inclusion.

Rebecca received her graduate degree in Health Promotion and Education from the University of Cincinnati. She previously worked for the State of Ohio at the Ohio Resource Network to provide strategic coordination of statewide initiatives addressing alcohol and other drug prevention and safe and supportive learning environments.

Miami's Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Students serves as the primary source of support for students who experience Title IX violations, which include sexual assault, sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. We encourage you to reach out to us so we can help you do the following: 1) provide connections to medical and mental health treatment, 2) help you report the incident to the police and inform you of how to pursue disciplinary action, 3) assist you with accessing academic and living support services, and 4) support you with emotional health and other needs.

Dr. Vicka Bell-Robinson began serving as the Director of Residence Life in July, 2017 approximately 10 years after she joined the Miami University in a different role. Prior to joining Miami, she held positions at North Central College and Ball State University. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois, a Master of Education in College Student Personnel from Grand Valley State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Miami University. Dr. Bell-Robinson is well versed in diversity and inclusion, facility management, assessment, staff training and development, as well as establishing effective campus partnerships.

Mr. Tim ParsonsTim Parsons

Emergency Case Manager, Office of the Dean of Students

Mr. Parsons began in the position of Emergency Case Manager in September of 2008. As the Emergency Case Manager, Tim helps to support students throughout the campus who are dealing with particularly stressful issues that may impact their ability to be successful at Miami. Tim graduated from Wright State University in 1996 with his Master of Science degree and is a licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio. He also obtained his Master of Divinity degree in Theology from United Theological Seminary in 1993 and did his undergraduate work at the Ohio State University. Prior to coming to Miami,  he and his family were living in Malaysia and working in an international school.

Susan Vaughn

Ms. Vaughn started working in the Division of Student Affairs at Miami in 1985 and has been the Director of the Office of Community Standards (formerly Ethics and Student Conflict Resolution) since 1996. Susan coordinated the Alcohol and Drug Education program for the first ten years of her career at Miami. She served as the Collegiate Chapter Director for the Alpha Chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority at Miami for 12 years and has recently taught in the Criminal Justice Studies program at Miami's Hamilton campus for the past few years as well.

Mr. Zeisler began his career coordinating services for students with disabilities at Miami in November of 1988. He has been Director of Disability Services since 1994, and he oversees a committed and talented staff of professionals who coordinate reasonable accommodations, support services, and resources to ensure equal access to education and university life for students with disabilities. Andrew graduated from Miami with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1988, earned his Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from Miami in 2000, and has served on the 1809 LGBT Alumni Board of Trustees through the Alumni Association since 2004.
