Stress-Less Week 2018 Events

The Student Counseling Service and the Suicide Prevention Team are proud to sponsor Stress Less Week.  Our goal is to help students, staff, and faculty increase awareness of ways to manage stress and anxiety and to improve emotional health of those in our campus community.  Stress Less Week will be held from April 2-6, 2018 and includes the activities listed below.

Wednesday, April 4:

  • Circle of Sound Drum Session, 11am-1pm, Armstrong Student Center, Marcum South Court (rain location - Shade Stage) Open to all Miami students, faculty and staff.

Did you know drumming reduces tension, anxiety and stress? Join Liz Wu, certified Health Rhythms musician, for a stress less jam session. Drums and instruments will be provided, or bring your own. Take a mid-week stress break, join the jam, or just listen in. No drumming experience needed.  All are welcome.  Just drop in!

STRESS LESS DAY

Thursday, April 5, 4:00-6:30pm- Armstrong Pavilion A/B         

  • Dog therapy
  • Free massages
  • Stress management resources
  • Suicide prevention resources and information on how to help friends in distress
  • Mental health treatment referral information
  • Giveaways (raffle for Graeter’s gift basket, Rapid Fire Pizza coupons)
  • Coping cards
  • Chinese Tea Ceremony- hosted by the Confucius Institute.  Demonstration using traditional chinaware, free samples of hot tea, and teaching how to drink tea mindfully.

  • Miniature horse therapy

Friday, April 6:

  • Biofeedback session with Dr. Fred Sheuh – 2-3pm at Student Counseling Service
