The Student Counseling Service and the Suicide Prevention Team are proud to sponsor the 2nd annual Stress Less Week! Our goal is to help students, staff, and faculty learn ways to manage stress, improve self-care, and assist those who are coping with mental health difficulties.  Stress Less Week will be held from April 11-15, 2016 and includes the activities listed below.

Tuesday, April 12:

Mindfulness Session 
Provided by the Mindfulness and Contemplative Inquiry Center, Katie Egart

  • Miniature Horse Therapy (Armstrong Outdoor Patio)
  • Insomnia cookies (while supplies last!)
  • Free massages
  • Candy
  • Messages of Hope table - write supportive messages to friends coping with mental health issues
  • Coloring books
  • “The Art of Chinese Tea”- hosted by the Confucius Institute. Demonstration using traditional chinaware, free samples of hot tea, and teaching how to drink tea mindfully.
  • Gratitude table - write letters of gratitude to those you care about and watch a gratitude video
  • Free prizes and coupons
  • Stress management resources

Silent Disco
6:00 - 8:00 pm
Armstrong Pavilion B

Project You (student organization) is sponsoring a “Silent Disco” to encourage students to come learn more about mental health issues and how we can work to de-stigmatize them… and then stay to dance! A DJ will provide you with headphones and a choice of song playlists to choose. Come dance the evening away to the “beat of your own drum” as you listen your own playlist. Dancing is a great way to build confidence and have fun with friends!
