Adding a Video

A video can be added to your web page in different ways. You can add the video to the page to display at the bottom of the page content, or you can embed the video within the page content or in a widget. We recommend that your video is uploaded from YouTube, as this is the easiest method. Instructions for using YouTube can be found at www.YouTube.com. You cannot use videos in .swf format. Videos must be closed-captioned before they may be added to a webpage.

To display at the bottom of the page content, copy YouTube ID .

You will find the YouTube ID in the web address when you open a YouTube video. In this example URL, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sReFqfZ_Kh0, the bold text indicates the ID. Type the YouTube Video ID under Misc. Items at the bottom of the Edit page.  The video will display on your page at the bottom of the page content using the full column width.

To embed video within the page or widget content, copy YouTube embed code.

Step 1: Copy the embed code from YouTube. You can use this embed code in the HTML of the page or a widget to embed the video and control the size of the video.

Step 2: Add Embed Code to Cascade Server CMS

Paste the embed code from YouTube in the HTML of your page. Note: You will need to change the source statement from a relative link to an absolute link. To do this, add http: to the beginning of the URL; e.g., change src="//www.youtube.com/embed/sReFqfZ_Kh0?rel=0" to src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sReFqfZ_Kh0?rel=0".

Troubleshooting:

If you get the following error after you submit you page, then you need to correct the code by adding http: to the link, as described in Step 2 above.
