Summer 2007
Scholarship Established in Honor of Former Football Coach Terry Hoeppner

Miami University's Cradle of Coaches was saddened on June 19 to learn of the passing of former head football coach and long-time assistant coach Terry Hoeppner, who succumbed to a battle with brain cancer at the age of 59.
With the blessing of Hoeppner's family, Miami has chosen to honor his memory by establishing the "Coach Hep Scholarship Fund" to provide support for an aspiring young football coach or student-athlete.
Hoeppner, who had served the last two seasons as head football coach at Indiana University, spent 19 years on the sidelines for the Miami. During his tenure, which included six years as head coach, the impact of his enthusiasm and ability to motivate extended beyond the field and into the lives of his student-athletes and the community.
He led the Red and White to six straight winning seasons as head coach and a combined record of 48-25. In 2003, Hoeppner's Miami team won 13 consecutive games, including Mid-American Conference and GMAC Bowl titles, and Miami finished the season at No. 10 in the final national rankings -matching a program-best. His 2004 team advanced to the Independence Bowl, marking the first time in nearly three decades that Miami appeared in back-to-back bowl games.
