Faculty Appointments

Full-Time Faculty

In early August, continuing faculty receive an annual letter of appointment which details salary and status for the upcoming year. There is no contract to sign; it is assumed that the faculty member accepts the appointment as stated unless Academic Personnel Services is notified to the contrary before the beginning of the academic year.

Part-Time Faculty

Credit hour, part-time faculty are reappointed through an online process and will receive an email notification of the reappointment. This email will direct you to Online Contracts to provide an e-signature acceptance of the appointment. These appointments are typically made between March and early August for the fall semester and October and January for the second semester.

Unclassified Staff Appointments

Academic Personnel Services initiates Annual Appointment letters each fiscal year in June.

  • Temporary, full-time staff are reappointed through an online process and will receive an email notification of the reappointment. This email will direct you to provide an e-signature acceptance of the appointment.

Performance Evaluations

Two forms are required for unclassified staff performance evaluations:

Monthly Leave Reporting

Unclassified Staff report the use of vacation and/or sick leave on a monthly basis via the BannerWeb Employee Services Online.

Vacation Policy

The purpose of the vacation benefit is to provide time away from work for rest, recreation and renewal; the University, therefore, expects its unclassified administrative staff to use vacation time each year for such purposes.

It is also recognized, however, that it may not always be possible for an individual to use his or her full complement of vacation days within a given contract year; for this reason, while accumulation of vacation time is discouraged, it is permitted within the limits set forth below. All vacation must be approved in advance by the staff member's supervisor. See Miami's Vacation Policy for specifics.
