ENG 251L/252L European Literature (4, 4)
(251: 18th century; 252: 19th century and after). Introduction to critical and cultural study of Europe as presented in literary texts. Texts will be used as springboards to an understanding of the sweeping social changes of the periods and the ensuing responses. The course will examine textual presentation of the art, history, and philosophy of the period, as well as of the concurrent evolution of society. Offered at the European Center only.
