Graphic Design Major
Marketing Minor
As a student at Miami, Michaela McKenny majored in graphic design. But her major wasn’t her only creative outlet. She served as art director for Edun Live on Campus, a socially conscious apparel business run by students at Miami. She spent a summer studying branding and interdisciplinary design in Florence, Italy. And she participated in the Miami Club of Fashion Design and Merchandising, a club she continues to support as an alum.
She also interned in several different areas of design. She worked at an interactive agency in Oxford, at a branding agency in Chicago, and at InStyle Magazine in New York City. And getting lots of different experiences helped her find her niche in the design world.
After graduation, Michaela moved to New York City, where she landed a graphic design job in the fashion industry. Now, a few years later, she has such noteworthy designers as Diane von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta on her résumé. Michaela says Miami prepared her well for her career, because it taught her to work hard. And that, she says, sets you on the path to success.
