African Art: Confronting Assumptions, Challenging Values
Open now in the McKie Gallery (Gallery 2), this Senior Capstone Exhibition examines the marginalization and commercialization of African art within the context of indigenous and mainstream art and culture. The exhibition is curated by Art and Architecture History majors at Miami University under the direction of Professor dele jegede and Curator of Exhibitions, Jason E. Shaiman.

African Art: Confronting Assumptions, Challenging Values
This symposium is the culmination of the Fall 2013 Capstone course (ART 498), taught by dele jegede, Professor, Department of Art, with support from Jason Shaiman, Curator of Exhibitions, Miami University Art Museum. Six students, all Art and Architecture History majors, will discuss the key notions that constitute the main focus of the exhibit and highlight issues pertaining to their curatorial experience.
