Nicole Smith started working on the CEC external advisory council over a decade ago, when CEC was still referred to as the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). She was than invited to join the Women’s Advisory Committee four years ago, and loves working with other Miami alumnae to help students continue to be successful.

Smith recalls her undergraduate time fondly. She thoroughly enjoyed her four years spent at Miami where she played in the Miami University Marching Band, was in Zeta Tau Alpha, and got to develop many close relationships during her time here. She recalls connecting with professors, the beautiful campus, and philosophizing with friends as some of her favorite memories at Miami.

After graduating from Miami, Smith works for NASA in the area of Human Spaceflight and Exploration. During this time, Smith worked on both the International Space Station and Orion programs. She also spent a year away from technical projects as a legislative fellow on Capitol Hill.

In her near future, she plans on testing the next spacecraft to take people back to the Moon. Her long-term goal is to become the NASA Administrator.
