Constitution Day, Citizenship and Democracy Week celebrated Sept. 16-20
99 new citizens took the oath of citizenship at the naturalization ceremony during Democracy and Citizenship Week last year at Miami University Hamilton's Parrish Auditorium. Miami will host a number of events on its campuses for Constitution Day and the Miami Regionals’ Citizenship and Democracy Week.

Miami student group raising funds to build service dog park on campus
Nathan Phillips and Alexandria Tong play at the Wilson tennis courts with Bonzo and Buffett, service dogs in training.Paws for a Cause Miami, a student organization, has raised more than $33,300 for a proposed Miami University Service Dog Park for the puppies in training and working service dogs on campus. They hope to raise $40,000 to $65,000.

Federal grant gives students insight into income and health inequity worldwide
Miami University — in partnership with Christ University in Bengaluru, India — has received a one-year $99,846 grant. The grant is through the U.S. Department of State's Partnership 2020 educational initiative in collaboration with University of Nebraska Omaha.

Armstrong Student Center changes will help students and staff
The new Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion serves students of color, LGBTQ+ students and women students.As Miami University's fall semester starts, there will be some noticeable differences in the Armstrong Student Center.

Miami University to host 2020 National Civil Rights Conference
Miami faculty and students at the memorial to James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Philadephia, Mississippi. Miami presented an award to the church in a pre-conference event to the National Civil Rights Conference. The 10th annual National Civil Rights Conference will be at Miami University June 22-23, 2020.
