Dr. Larysa Bobrova, Coordinator

Larysa Bobrova


As a coordinator of the ELL WC, Larysa Bobrova’s goal is to support multilingual student writers and faculty. She received her Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University specializing in cognitive semantics and second language acquisition. Her teaching and scholarly interests lie in second language writing pedagogy and teacher education. She enjoys sharing innovative teaching strategies with faculty for teaching multilingual students. In her teaching, she aims to bring together rigorous theoretical enquiry with language pedagogy attempting to enhance learning process by making it both productive and enjoyable.

Writing Consultants

Our consultants are Miami undergraduate students from diverse majors and with a variety of interests.

Cosette is a Speech Pathology major with a minor in Spanish. She grew up speaking Spanish at home and plans to use her bilingual abilities as a Speech Pathologist in a school setting. In her free time, she enjoys watching TV shows, hiking, and playing outside with her pets.

Emma is double majoring in Economics and Spanish. She speaks Spanish and has been to several countries and is always looking to add more interesting places to her list! On campus, she is involved with the Honors Student Advisory Board. She loves to read, hike, and spend time with friends.

Hannah is a sophomore majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She loves to travel abroad, some of her favorite places she's been included: Belize, China, Spain and Northern Ireland. In her free time, she loves to read, watch Netflix, and spend time with her friends and family.

Lindsay is majoring in Anthropology and Spanish and minoring in Global Health. She is fluent in Spanish and loves learning new languages. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, listening to worship music, and being with her friends.

Marianna is a junior majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Spanish. She is a fluent speaker of Spanish and hopes to study abroad in South Korea after graduating.

Morgan is majoring in East Asian Languages & Culture and Linguistics. She is learning Mandarin Chinese and studied abroad in Tianjin. She has a passion for the arts, especially costume design and all things theatrical. She frequently performs entire Broadway musicals by herself in her free time.

Sarah is a senior with a double major in Strategic Communication and Linguistics. She has studied Spanish and American Sign Language, and once she graduates, she wants to explore many European countries. In her free time, she enjoys cross stitching, learning how to cook, and preparing to adopt a cat.

Sasha is a junior majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Native American studies. She can speak fluent Russian and is currently learning more about her Native Alaskan heritage.

Shae is a senior majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology. On campus, she is president of two clubs and works in a research lab. When not studying or working, she enjoys figure skating on Miami’s club synchronized skating team and rewatching The Office and Parks and Rec.

Sophie is a junior majoring in French Education and minoring in Spanish. She has studied abroad in France and Ecuador and has experienced many of the challenges of writing in a non-native language. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, drawing comic strips, and looking at the stars.

Sydni is a double major in Marketing and Spanish. On campus, she is involved in Greek Life, Cru and Paws for a Cause. She enjoys going on runs, playing with her pets and spending time outdoors.
