Last week the Center for Analytics and Data Science hosted its third annual Analytics Networking Reception. Students and companies got the opportunity to network and converse in a more intimate environment prior to Miami University’s Career Fair on Wednesday. Some students received interview offers at the event.

Senior statistics and predictive analytics student, Katherine Shockey, shares her thoughts on the reception: "I got the chance to connect with recruiters who were interested in people with strong analytical skills, looking to pursue a career in a technical field, which is not always the case at larger recruiting events. CADS made larger companies, like Nationwide more accessible, landing me an interview with them while they were on campus."

The field was bright; students that attended had an average GPA of 3.47 and represented eleven majors from the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, Health, & Society, Farmer School of Business, and the College of Engineering and Computing. Nearly half of student attendees were analytics co-majors, while an additional fourteen percent were pursuing a minor in business analytics.
