Biography
Dr. Hao Wang is an assistant professor of marketing at the Farmer School of Business, Miami University. He earned his PhD in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the Muma College of Business at the University of South Florida.
His research centers on sales and marketing strategy, utilizing mixed methods-behavioral and quantitative approaches- to explore key areas such as salesforce effectiveness, retail and platform strategies, and sales and marketing for the common good. His work has been published in leading journals, including the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and the Journal of Retailing. Notably, his article on the entrepreneurial selling process received the 2021 James M. Comer Award for Best Contribution to Selling and Sales Management Theory. He has also earned recognition as the runner-up for the 2023 American Marketing Association (AMA) Sales SIG Dissertation Award and as the winner of the 2022 AMA Sales SIG/USCA Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Award.
Hao is also actively engaged in the academic profession. He serves on the editorial review boards of Industrial Marketing Management and the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management. Additionally, he was elected Vice Chair of Recognition and Awards for the AMA Sales SIG for the 2025â2026 term.
Hao brings an entrepreneurial mindset to his research and teaching, equipping students to thrive in uncertain, complex, and dynamic sales environments. He has successfully mentored student teams to achieve top honors in national sales competitions, fostering both their skills and confidence.
