Farmer School of Business study abroad programs are open to students of all majors at Miami who meet the prerequisites. Students must meet prerequisites of CUL and IES as well as the Miami prerequisites of a CUL or IES course that has an equivalent to a Miami course.

Prior Semester Expectations:

During semester leading up to departure there will be mandatory pre-departure meetings. These meetings will address program details, course registration, roommate preferences, important dates, and tips for success.

Program Curriculum:

Students will take:

  • ONE (1) pre-approved business course at the City University of London (Fulfills the Miami Plan Global Requirement)
  • ONE (1) pre-approved business course through IES' academic center (Fulfills the Miami Plan Global Requirement)
  • THREE (3) three-credit hour pre-approved courses at IES’ academic center. These will be general studies courses which can be used to complete a thematic sequence.  If you don't need a thematic sequence, additional business courses are contingent upon availability, capacity, and scheduling.
  • The following business courses have been pre-approved by the FSB. Other, non-business courses may also be pre-approved by Miami but approval must be sought by the appropriate department. It is the student’s responsibility to confirm whether the course is taught in the fall or the spring semester:
    • Choose ONE (1) pre-approved business course at the City University of London 
    • AS3301 Investment – Approved as FIN 401 Principles of Investments and Security Markets (spring only)
    • FR2211 Derivatives, Trading and Hedging – Approved as FIN 404. Forward, Futures and Derivatives (spring only)
    • IF3108 Corporate Finance – Approved as FIN 302 Intermediate Financial Management (fall only)
    • FR3202 Real Estate Finance and Funding – Approved as FIN 331 (spring only)
    • AS3021 Operational Research – Approved as ISA 321 (fall only)
    • BS1106 Introduction to Business Law – Approved as BLS 342 Legal Environment of Business (fall only)
    • BM2202 International Marketing – Approved as MKT 425 Global Marketing (spring only)
    • BM 2210 Introduction to Business Law – Approved as BLS 342 (spring only)
    • BS2111 European Business Culture – Approved as MGT 304 Cross Cultural Management (fall only)
    • Choose ONE (1) pre-approved business course through IES' academic center
      • FI 355 - International Finance – Approved as FIN 417 International Business Finance
