Entrepreneurs take up residence at Farmer School
August 2018
The Farmer School of Business Institute of Entrepreneurship has named the inaugural members of the new Entrepreneurs-in-Residence program.
The goal of the program is to provide entrepreneurial mentorship, coaching and support to Miami students, faculty, staff and alumni.
“As part of our efforts to extend learning opportunities outside the classroom, successful founders, investors and thought leaders in startups, social ventures and corporate venturing are sharing their time and talent to FSB throughout the academic year, lecturing on different entrepreneurship topics, advising and mentoring students eager to start their own companies, and working with faculty on research and course development,” entrepreneurship chair Tim Holcomb explained.
The entrepreneurs for the 2019-2019 school year are:
“All three have made exceptional contributions to the startup ecosystem,” Holcomb said. “I couldn’t be more excited about having them as our inaugural class.”
EiRs schedule residency office hours and hold one-on-one meetings with students, faculty/staff, and alumni, guest lecture on relevant topics in entrepreneurship across campus, help facilitate the Institute for Entrepreneurship co-curricular programs, and work with faculty on research and course development.
Holcomb said the program is modeled after similar programs at the University of Chicago Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Harvard Business School Arthur Rock Center for Entrepreneurship.
He said that while there are three EiRs this year, the program envisions eventually having five to seven each year.
Please join us in welcoming Rod, Theresa and David to the Farmer School team!
