Homecoming Weekend is set for October 7-9, 2022

There’s just something about fall on Miami’s campus. The autumn leaves. The crisp air. A hot Bagel & Deli sandwich. We know you miss it, and we miss you. We want to celebrate BIG this year, so we’re pulling out all the stops to welcome alumni and friends back to campus for Homecoming Oct. 7-9.

Since Time Immemorial… The Place of the Miamis

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Walter Havighurst Special Collections, King Library 3rd Floor

In 1972 Chief Forest Olds of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma made an unexpected visit to Miami University. He came to Oxford to learn about the university that carried his Tribe’s name. Drawing primarily on items in the Walter Havighurst Special Collections, this exhibition, curated by the Myaamia Center, explores the history of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and their relationship with Miami University. Stop in to learn more about this unique partnership that now spans five decades.

All alumni, parents, family members, and guests visiting Oxford for Homecoming are welcome to visit the Rec Center for the special rate of $6 per person, per day.  Visitors are welcome to use the fitness center, basketball courts, indoor tract, aquatic center and more!  The facility will be open on Friday from 6:00am - 8:00pm, Saturday from 8:00am - 6:00pm, and Sunday 10:00am - 10:00pm.

Hefner Museum Hours and Visiting Information

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Hefner Museum (100 Upham Hall, Oxford, OH 45056)

Visit the Hefner Museum on Friday, October 7 anytime from 9am-4pm! Drop-in tours will happen throughout the day and visitors are encouraged to "Stump Steve" with their nature-related questions. The Hefner Museum of Natural History uses exhibits, collections and specimens, and interactive programs to teach visitors of all ages about animal biodiversity, conservation, and ecology.


Miami University Art Museum Open House

10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Miami University Art Museum (801 S Patterson Ave, Oxford, OH 45056)

The Miami University Art Museum welcomes you to visit the open exhibitions over Homecoming weekend! Galleries will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Center for Career Exploration and Success Open House

Stop by the Center For Career Exploration & Success for an open house event on Friday, October 7th from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. During this event, you can chat with Career Center staff, get an updated headshot taken with our social media famous headshot booth and learn about the many ways you can get involved to help our students achieve career success!

The Center for Career Exploration and Success is looking for Alumni to assist with the creation of Career Videos. Some of the best perspective and advice can be shared with current students through this video format. Every Saturday morning, Oxford Farmers Market Uptown is open 9am to Noon where around 40 vendors share their gifts with our community.


Homecoming Parade

10:00 a.m., Along High Street to Tallawanda Rd

We're bringing back the Homecoming Parade!  Join us for the return of this Miami tradition. 

If you are interested in having an entry in the Parade, please submit your entry with the Homecoming Parade Entry Form>>

All are welcome! Floats, Classic Cars, Tractors, Bikes, and Walking (four-legged friends too!) entries are encouraged!  The deadline to submit an entry for the Homecoming parade is Friday, September 30.

Join us at Cook Field at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, for staging. Follow the parade up High Street, take a right onto Tallawanda Road, and end at our pregame tailgate in the west parking lot of Millett Hall. 

Travel Advisory

Please be advised that there wll be road closures for the Homecoming Parade on Saturday, October 8 at approximately 9:30 a.m. until the end of Parade at the following locations:

-73 & Patterson Ave (traffic will be diverted to Spring Street)
-High Street & Tallawanda Rd

Oxford and/or Miami Police Vehicles will be blocking additional intersections on the Parade Route.

Homecoming Tailgate

Parking Lots Open at 9:00 a.m., West Parking Lot & Lawn of Millett Hall

Join fellow Miamians and tailgate in the West Millett Parking Lot and surrounding areas!

Food trucks. Games. Spirit. Visit our Miami University Alumni Association tailgate tent for Miami gear and explore more than 15 alumni groups and organizations to see how you can get involved or simply reminisce and socialize with fellow Miamians.

Then, join Miami’s football team on the “Hawk Walk” as they arrive on gameday and walk down Weeb Ewbank Way to the stadium.


Miami University Art Museum Open House

The Miami University Art Museum welcomes you to visit the open exhibitions over Homecoming weekend! Galleries will be open from Noon until 5:00 p.m. with light refreshments and activities.  Docent led tours will also be available from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Miami Football vs. Kent State

 OXtoberFest

1:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.;  Uptown Oxford

This family-friendly festival will provide activities and entertainment to appeal to guests of all ages. Oxtoberfest will feature three beer trucks, representing German, Craft & Domestic beers. Select beer tastings & flights will be available at the Steinkeller sponsored “Burgermeister Beer Garden.”

Traditional Oktoberfest contests & games will occur throughout the day and we encourage you to dress up! The Klaberheads will be bringing the musical entertainment to our festival, playing everything from polkas to Big Band classics to rock’n’roll. The Klaberheads is the premiere Oktoberfest band in Ohio.

Uptown Oxford will be closed off to traffic to allow businesses & organizations, as well as local artisans to set up booths in the streets. There will be food trucks to provide additional dining options. Make sure to bring your kiddos out to enjoy the kid’s corner, full of activities, inflatable games, face painting and more. Sunday, October 9

The College of Creative Arts presents a Studio Art Exhibition at Lewis Place

9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.; Lewis Place (310 E High St, Oxford, OH 45056)

We will transform the first floor of Lewis Place will transform into a gallery space and will feature nearly 30 pieces from CCA Studio Art faculty, scholarship winners, and recent CCA grads.  Please join us for an Open House on Sunday, October 9, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. during Homecoming Weekend. Open to the Miami Campus and Oxford Community.

Black Alumni

Friday Events:

Register for the DeAngelo Griggs Memorial 5 on 5 Basketball Tournament that is being organized by NPHC alumni. Greeks will compete against Non-Greeks. The game will take place from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the recreation center courts. The recreation center is located at 750 S Oak St, Oxford, OH. Pennies will be provided to wear during the games.  Teams will be decided after registration closes.

Saturday Events:

Tailgate in the lawn in front of Millett from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Come hang out and meet Black alumni and students. We will be at a 10 x 10 tent adjacent to the NPHC tent. Join us in getting ready for the big game by tailgating like you’ve never seen before. Phi Kappa Psi is among the 15 organizations that will be hosting a pregame tailgate before Miami’s football game against Kent State.
Parking is on an individual basis, please do so in the Millett parking lot to be close to the action, or in the north garage a short walking distance from the stadium.

• 2 p.m.: Gates to Yager Stadium open
• 3:30 p.m.: Game kickoff v. Kent State

Join your brothers for a wonderful evening nightcap and a look back on the 'good 'ol days', rocks glass sets to cheers the evening will be given to each couple in attendance! Miami’s campus is CASHLESS so please plan accordingly for the bar!
