Transportation Delivery Supervisor

General Function

Oversees the moving and delivering supplies, equipment, and other materials to departments on campus

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities—Essential Functions

  • Attends meetings regarding moves; determines logistical requirements; schedules work crews and ensures appropriate equipment is available.
  • Serves as a liaison for unit; coordinates moves with departments and contractors; assists in the selection and negotiation with any outside contractors.
  • Oversees on-site activities of moving crews by monitoring and reviewing actions to ensure that appropriates standards are met; assists crews as needed.
  • Assist in hiring and training staff; establishes schedules and assigns tasks; reviews and approves time sheets.
  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks for projects involving the recycling center, bus service, and trash removal.

Reporting Relationships

Direction Received: Reports to Manager of Trucking and Special Services

Direction Given: Functional supervision of classified staff (Transportation/Delivery Specialist)

Minimum Requirements

Requires nine months of on-the-job training or coursework beyond high school in a business or administrative related field and two years of trucking/moving experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires commercial driver's license.

  • Knowledge of moving procedures

  • Supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of recycling operations

Working Conditions

Frequent walking, climbing, and operating machinery. Often carries heavy material weighing over 50 pounds.
