Summer Fitness 4 Life
Taking activity breaks in your workday can help you feel more energetic, improve mood/concentration, enhance sleep, and decrease risk of chronic disease, illness and injury. No-cost Fitness 4 Life programs are offered for all faculty, staff and graduate students, regardless of benefit eligibility, and spouses covered under Miami's health plan.

Workshops

Cardio and Strengthening
Cardio Tone
Total Body Tone in interval format. Each exercise will emphasize muscular strength, muscular endurance, aerobic conditioning, or a combination of all three.

Hip Hop
Athletic, simple, and fun choreography makes this dance–inspired workout anything but routine. Let’s get up and dance!

Mind and Body
Hapkido
Practice this Korean self-defense art and you will acquire basic hand and foot abilities while developing self defense skills of falling, rolling, breakaways, and locking/pinning techniques. All skill levels are welcome to learn how the coordination of mind and body relieves stress and trains a valuable set of skills.

Meditation
Need a weekly stress break? Research has proven a regular meditation practice can improve memory, mental focus, blood pressure, and coping with stress. In this workshop you will be guided through a brief meditation and leave feeling refreshed and renewed. Practices will cover the basics of guided relaxation, breathing, and meditation.

Pilates
Perform mat exercises the target abdominal and lower back muscles. This class is designed to enhance posture and body awareness by developing a balance between muscular strength and flexibility.

Taekwondo
This traditional instruction will teach basic hand and foot techniques and stances. These skills are then merged into connected movements that develop flexibility, strength, and balance. It is a class for all skill levels designed to provide physical and mental development while having fun and relieving stress.

Yoga
Yoga’s benefits include releasing tight muscles, strengthening and stress management. These welcoming classes are appropriate for both new beginners and experienced participants. Classes include movement, holding poses, breath awareness and guided relaxation. Modifications will be offered. Come early to your first class and meet the instructor.

Fitness Centers
We offer free, no-cost fitness centers for all Miami faculty and staff with a valid Miami ID. Centers include treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary bikes, strength training machines, free weights, and more. All fitness levels are welcome, and you can join any time.
