Ohio Guaranteed Transfer Pathways

As a member of the University System of Ohio, Miami University offers students the ability to streamline credit transfer from the state's public institutions of higher education and from adult/secondary career-technical institutions to find the best pathways to degree completion and launch successful careers.

Your college credit may apply to a degree in multiple ways:

Guaranteed Transfer-to-Degree Pathways allows you to transfer, in simple and direct ways, a core of credits that count toward certain majors such as anthropology, art & architecture history, biology, business, chemistry, economics, English literature, geography, geology, history, mathematics (BA and BS), music, physics, political science, psychology (BA and BS), social work, sociology, studio art, and theatre.

Transfer Assurance Guides (TAGs) are lower division courses that are part of an academic major and are automatically matched to similar courses at other Ohio public institutions so that transfer students can receive actual course credit.

Ohio Transfer Module (OTM) consists of general education course requirements guaranteed to transfer among all Ohio public institutions of higher education. Students who intend to transfer should select their general education courses from the state approved OTM courses at their current institution. OTM course may also be a TAG course. Learn more about Miami's OTM courses.

Military Transfer Assurance Guides (MTAGs) guarantee that certain types of military training, experience and/or coursework align to existing college and university courses, thus granting students appropriate credit. MTAGs work best for students who have either a Joint Services Transcript or a Community College of the Air Force transcript.

Career Technical Assurance Guides (CTAGs) provide recognition of learning to students who have completed approved adult and secondary career-technical coursework. CTAGs help these students enter college with articulated college level credit. Time limits and conditions for awarding CTAG credit vary by technical area.

One Year Option allows students at Ohio Technical Centers who earned identified certifications, licensures or other industry recognized credentials in a 600+ clock-hour pathway approved by the Chancellor to receive up to 30 technical credit hours. The 30 semester hours are awarded as a block of credit rather than credit for specific courses, and they count toward an Associate of Technical Studies degree upon successfully enrolling at Miami or another public college or university in Ohio.
