If you are a Veteran using your benefits, you will need to apply for admission. If you are applying to an undergraduate program as a military service member with credits from your training, you will apply as a transfer student at either the Oxford or Regional campus. Graduate students should apply to their desired program through the Graduate School. The application fee is waived for Veterans and Military Personnel. No fee waiver is necessary. (The regional campus application fee is $35.00 and the Oxford undergraduate and graduate application fees are $50.00).

VA Benefit Request Form

Complete a VA Benefit Request form each term. Until this form is completed, Miami is unable to submit your enrollment to VA for payment of your benefits.

Military Services Eligibility Form

As an active member of the U.S. Armed Forces, a veteran, or their dependent*, you have the opportunity to self-identify so that Miami University recognizes you as eligible for current or future educational services offered by the University and/or the State of Ohio. Providing this information is purely voluntary; it is not a requirement for enrollment or employment at Miami University.

If you qualify as an active member, veteran, or dependent beneficiary, complete and submit the Military Services Eligibility form. You should submit the form upon enrollment at Miami and you only need to submit the form once during your time at Miami. You may also later be asked by our Veteran Services support staff to supply documentation verifying your eligibility. If you are deemed eligible, your Miami University academic record will be updated to reflect your current U.S. Armed Forces Service status.

* A dependency relationship is defined by current IRS regulations.

Make sure you have all your transcripts available, whether military or from another school.

Ohio Residency

Apply for Ohio residency, if needed. The Ohio GI Promise guarantees in-state tuition to veterans as long as they meet the requirements. The Residency reclassification application and all supporting documentation must be received at least three (3) full weeks prior to the first day of classes of the academic semester for which you are applying. Individuals using transferred benefits may qualify for residency under the Choice Act provisions.

Yellow Ribbon Program

If you are classified as a non-resident student and have 100% Post-9/11 GI Bill® eligibility, you may qualify for the Yellow Ribbon program. Miami University is a Yellow Ribbon school. Yellow Ribbon scholarships are limited and made available on a first come, first served basis per VA regulations. Please contact the One Stop for further details.
