MEET Program Curriculum

Earn your Master's in Entrepreneurship + Emerging Technology in as little as 10 months. Complete 18 credit hours of graduate fundamentals in the area, and build on your foundation from there.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Develop a feasible model for an emerging media startup grounded in UX research and supported with a digital marketing plan.
  2. Create a digital prototype of an emerging media product or platform and validate the prototype.
  3. Apply a depth of practical methods in the management of an emerging media organization. Specifically, a depth in building a tech startup, programming, design, or tournament organization.
  4. Implement emerging media best practices in a practical experience with an organization that leverages emerging technology to meet actual business needs.

ESP 544 – Entrepreneurship: Venture Capital Immersion

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate sophisticated recognition of different types of venture investment risk and detailed knowledge of due diligence frameworks and checklists, risk assessment strategies and approaches, primary and secondary research, and financial analyses.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of venture capital model, firm thesis, management structure and fees, fund logic, and stages of venture funding.

ESP 651 – Creativity, Innovation and the Entrepreneurial Mindset

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Apply the creativity/innovation/entrepreneurial mindset to their lives.
  • Live their framework/toolkit and their personal manifesto to move their lives forward.
  • Apply a wide variety of techniques and exercises to help spark the creative process.
  • Recognize opportunity.
  • Appreciate the role of courage, risk, and reward in entrepreneurship.
  • Recognize creative blocks when they are imposed by others, imposed on oneself, as well as when one is imposing blocks on others.

ESP 670 – Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Business Models

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Have working knowledge of the concepts, opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurship.
  • Understand how to create, test, and validate new business ideas.
  • Prepare, conduct, and evaluate customer discovery tests.
  • Demonstrate how to think and act like an entrepreneur.
  • Critique existing business models.
  • Design and develop a new business model.

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate mastery of UX theories and sub-disciplines to encourage interdisciplinary research.

  • Develop a digital branding strategy with detailed social media components.
  • Design a web-based customer experience based on an understanding of brand positioning and strategy.
  • Design, implement and optimize a search marketing campaign.
  • Leverage online resources for market research and analysis for the development of effective marketing metrics.

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain how to test and debug a web application.
  • Engage in key web design concepts including usability, visual aesthetics, and accessibility.
  • Conduct collaborative web programming using version control software.

IMS 585 – Technology Entrepreneurship Ecosystems

Students enrolled at the graduate level create an interactive map of a single startup employing. The map is a web app and employs all of the tools in modern programming to enhance user experience.

Create a full startup pitch and supporting materials to be presented to an audience of venture capitalists.

Create a white paper that reviews test results from application and recommendations for improvements suitable for professional use.

Gain mentorship and access to thought leadership as the internship (or externship at your current place of work) provides opportunities to learn the principles that govern the activities encountered in the workplace.
