Program Overview

Empowering Leadership is a 2-day pre-semester program focused on preparing and promoting women for leadership on campus and in public life after graduation. If you've ever considered running for one of the many leadership positions on campus, if you are intrigued by how campus leadership works, if you want to learn more about how gender impacts the practice and perception of leadership, this program is for you. Participants will explore leadership, with an emphasis on women and leadership, through diverse perspectives, examples, and activities. All are welcome to participate.

Program Activities

The program will begin with dinner Monday evening, followed by a full day on Tuesday and another full day on Wednesday. Program participants will connect with one another; participate in Elect Her, a nationally recognized training program; meet with local and regional elected officials and student government leaders; attend a city council meeting; connect with faculty experts on leadership; and discover leadership opportunities on campus. Participants will also network, develop their own quick pitch for self-promotion, and connect with participants in U-Lead, another early arrival program.
