Global Friendship Day

Program Overview

Global Friendship Day is a 1-day pre-semester program focused on building intercultural relationships. Domestic first-year students are invited to join our new international students for Global Friendship Day on the last day of their orientation, just before Welcome Weekend begins. At Global Friendship Day, international and domestic students will learn from one another and share experiences focused on common interests and collaborative activities. If you are interested in intercultural perspectives and building international friendships, this is the program for you!

Date: Wednesday, August 21, 2019

Time: The program will begin at 9am and last until approximately 5pm. Then you'll have a break for dinner, and everyone is invited to a social that evening at the Armstrong Student Center for all pre-semester program attendees.

Program Cost

Students who live on campus will move in on Tuesday, August 20 for Global Friendship Day (2 nights of early move-in). Participants will pay for one night of early move-in (approximately $30, depending on the rate of your residence room). Additional costs - for activities, lunch (on the day of the program), and the second night of early move-in - will be covered by the program. For commuter students, there is no cost for Global Friendship Day, since the early move-in fee does not apply.

Program Activities

The program will begin with a welcome on Wednesday morning, followed by a full day of activities. Program participants will connect with one another through a campus hunt (scavenger hunt) challenge - with an opportunity to win prizes. Students will also connect over lunch and participate in activities related to common interests (e.g., e-sports, athletics, arts and crafts, community service, or outdoor adventure).
