Arrival and Parking

Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio, is located in southwest Ohio approximately one hour from Cincinnati or Dayton.

For help in planning your visit, see Miami's Visit Page, with detailed information regarding directions, a campus map, travel options, off-campus accommodations, and even local restaurants, churches, and parking.

Arrival to Campus

Students and families should arrive between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. for orientation check-in.  For orientation, women students stay in Beechwoods, and men stay in Hillcrest (right next door).  If you are using a GPS to navigate, you can use the street address of Beechwoods Hall (231 Western College Drive, Oxford, OH 45056).

Parents/family members who are not utilizing on-campus overnight accommodations can wait in the car while students check in and drop off their overnight bags.  Parents/family who are utilizing on-campus overnight accommodations in the residence halls should drop your bags at Stonebridge Hall (right across the street from Beechwoods and Hillcrest).  There is temporary parking right next to the residence halls while you drop your bags.  Once your student has checked in, park in the North Campus Parking Garage (follow signage from orientation check-in), and then make your way to the Armstrong Student Center (550 E. Spring Street, Oxford, OH 45056).

We recommend arriving by 11:30 a.m. if possible, though check-in will remain open until 12 p.m. If you are unable to arrive by 12 p.m., please park at the North Campus Garage (see orientation map or look for on-campus signs) and proceed to the Armstrong Student Center (550 E. Spring Street) to check in.  Students and any family members staying in the residence hall should bring your bags with you.

Beechwoods/Hillcrest/Stonebridge Halls (orientation check-in)

Beechwoods Hall street address (for your GPS): 231 Western College Drive, Oxford, OH 45056

At orientation check-in (Beechwoods/Hillcrest) students will receive their residence hall room information as well as all orientation program materials - including materials for guests.  Families who are staying overnight on campus will check in at Stonebridge, and receive residence hall room information.  Everyone will store their bags in a secure area in each hall until rooms are cleaned from the prior program, and ready for you to access during the dinner break (4:30-6:30pm) or after Day 1 programs conclude.

North Campus Garage (orientation parking)

GPS directions for the street address of North Campus Garage are commonly inaccurate; please follow campus signage, which will direct you to proceed North on US27/Patterson Avenue across High Street (past the Farmer School of Business on your right); turn left at Withrow Lane; garage is underneath Benton Hall.  Proceed back to the far wall, and take the elevator up to street level.  Signage will direct you to the Armstrong Student Center.

Early Arrival

If you are arriving early (the evening before Day 1 of your program), you may proceed directly to your on- or off-campus accommodations. For on-campus early arrivals, please see the Early Arrivals section of the Orientation and Transition Programs website for more details.  Even if you stay on campus as an early arrival, you will switch rooms for your orientation overnight.  Please bring all your belongings and check in for your new room and all orientation materials on the moring of your Day 1 at Beechwoods (women) or Hillcrest (men).

If you need assistance with directions once you reach campus, please contact the Miami Information Desk at 513-529-1809 (summer hours 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).

If you are flying into the Cincinnati or Dayton airports for orientation, please be sure to schedule your orientation session prior to booking a flight. Please book your return flight out of the Cincinnati or Dayton airports after 3 p.m. EST on Day 2 of your orientation session. Day 2 concludes around noon EST and it will take approximately 1 hour to get to the Cincinnati or Dayton airports from Oxford. Find airport and taxi information at Miami's Transportation page.

Parking

Orientation guests should plan to park in the North Campus parking garage. Your parking pass will be digital (new for 2019). Please register your vehicle/license plate using the website in your orientation reminder email (sent three days prior to the start of your program). Once registered, you will receive a bar code that you can print and/or scan from your phone that will allow you to exit the garage for free. Just take the ticket from the kiosk as you enter the garage, and save it. When you exit, insert your garage entry ticket first, then scan your bar code. If you have trouble, please press the white intercom button for assistance (Miami Police can lift the garage gate remotely if needed).

Registering your vehicle is an instant process, and you'll receive your bar code by email and/or text within minutes. This means that if you are traveling in a rental car, you may register it when you pick up the vehicle or when you arrive on campus.

Registering for orientation parking also gives you access to any surface lots marked as "red" campus parking.  See the Miami Campus Parking Map for more details. Please do NOT park in spaces reserved for admission guests on Spring Street, behind Shriver Center, or behind MacMillan Hall (these spaces are marked as admission visit spaces, and also have pay-for-park kiosks; your orientation parking privileges do not cover these lots).
