August Orientation - Travel and Arrival Information

Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio is located in southwest Ohio approximately one hour from Cincinnati or Dayton. The visit Miami page offers detailed information regarding directions, travel options, off-campus accommodations, and even local restaurants, churches, and parking. Because students are moving into their assigned residence hall rooms, we cannot offer on-campus accommodations for parents, families, or guests of new Miami students during August orientation.

Arriving at Miami

When you arrive on campus , you can pick up your student ID card (which functions as your residence hall and residence hall room key) between 8:00am-4:30pm at the Campus Services Center, Campus Avenue Building 034, on the corner of Campus Avenue and Spring Street (enter on the south side of the building, nearest the Campus Avenue parking garage).

Please print a copy of the parking pass that was emailed to you in your August orientation reminder email and bring it with you to use while attending August orientation. If you are unable to print the parking pass, we will have copies of the printed parking pass available at August orientation check-in. The August orientation parking pass is the equivalent to a red permit, which will enable you to park in any lot or legal parking space on campus (e.g., no yellow curbs). The pass does not cover parking garages; if you choose to park in one of Miami’s parking garages, you will be required to pay the hourly parking fees ($1.00 for the first hour and $0.50/hour thereafter, with a maximum of $25). Likewise, if you choose to park in a metered parking space, you will need to feed the meter throughout the day.

For a map of campus parking locations, please visit the parking services website.
