Recovery Housing

Students who are in recovery from substance addiction may be more successful at Miami if they request to be exempted from living on campus so they can live in the off-campus recovery housing provided by The Haven at Miami.

Recovery housing is:

  • for students who are registered clients of The Haven at Miami
  • for students who are in or new to recovery

Recovery housing is not:

  • for students who want to live with other students who do not drink
  • for students whose parents want them to live a substance free life at college

To take advantage of Recovery Housing, students must:

  • Apply and be admitted to The Haven at Miami Recovery Residence (see information below)
  • Request a release from the two-year housing obligation (first- and second-year students only) to pursue recovery housing through the Recovery Housing Second-Year Exemption Application. This application is sent to Dr. Steve Large, Assistant Vice President for Health & Wellness at Miami University, who will follow-up with you and discuss next steps.
