Mike Arnos

Mike Arnos (2021)

Senior Director of Programs and Academic Partnerships

Mike Arnos oversees over 25 recreation programs, 75 academic courses, 18 full-time staff, and over 200 student employees. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Sport Studies from Miami University in 2002 and has been with Miami Recreation since that time with primary oversight for Miami's 1,500 club sport athletes.

Associate Director of Campus Planning

Robert Bell oversees the University’s space inventory of approximately 8 million square feet across 4 campuses. He leads long range planning efforts for academic and administrative divisions. Robert Has worked for Miami University’s Planning Architecture and Engineering Department since 2007. He has taught in Miami’s Department of Architecture & Interior Design and Interdisciplinary Studies Program. Robert has a bachelor’s in Architecture from Georgia Institute of Technology and Master of Architecture from Miami University.

Samantha Brandenburg (2020)

Coordinator of Library Facilities and Planning

Samantha Brandenburg is the Coordinator for Library Facilities and Planning. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a Bachelors of Science in Education and a Master of Education in College Student Personnel from the University of Dayton. After working at Vanderbilt University and Temple University, Samantha returned to her hometown of Hamilton, Ohio and began working at Miami University in 2014.

John Burke

Director of the Gardner-Harvey Library (Middletown) & Principal Librarian

John Burke began working at Miami in 2002. He has been a member of the Regional Staff Forum Executive Council (and the earlier Middletown Staff Forum) since 2008. He holds an M.S. in library science from the University of Tennessee and a B.A. in history from Michigan State University.  John is a past president of the Academic Library Association of Ohio (ALAO) and current board member of OhioNET. He has published and presented extensively on technologies in libraries, LMS-embedded librarianship, and makerspaces in libraries.

Amy Cooper is assistant director of proposal development in the Office for Advancement of Research & Scholarship (OARS) office.  

Celia Ellison

Celia Ellison (ex-officio)

Director of Academic Personnel Services

Celia Ellison is the Director of Academic Personnel Services and has been at Miami since 1990. She has a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and moved to Ohio in 1983. Academic Personnel is within the Office of the Provost and supports the personnel actions of faculty, academic salaried staff, and graduate assistants.

Christina Grote

Senior Academic Advisor

Christina Grote is Senior Academic Advisor at the Hamilton campus. She earned her BA in Sociology from The Ohio State University in 2010, and her M. Ed. in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Wright State University in 2012. She is a member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) as well as Ohio Academic Advising Association (OHAAA), and has contributed through presentations at state conferences. She earned Master Advisor status at Miami in 2018.

Ben Harris

Media Services Specialist

Ben Harris is the media services specialist for the Department of Music. He holds a BA in Violin from the University of Oklahoma and a MA in Music Composition from SUNY Buffalo. He is very interested in the intersection of music and technology. He has worked for Miami University since 2013.

Randy Hollowell (2022)

Manager of Communication and Client Advocacy

Randy Hollowell is the Manager of Communication and Client Advocacy for IT Services. He has worked at Miami since 2003, with all of that time being spent in IT Services, most recently as the Senior Communications and Web Coordinator. His work includes managing the communications unit, overseeing several divisional websites, serving as a member of the IT Services leadership team, and acting as a customer advocate between IT Services and the University community. Randy also works as a sports announcer for Miami including color commentary for men's basketball on ESPN3, sideline reporter for football on radio, and play-by-play broadcaster for baseball. Randy holds a bachelor's degree in Communications - Broadcast Media from Dana College and attended grad school at Miami as part of the MTSC program.

Spencer Izor (2022)

Associate Director of Development for Annual Giving

Spencer is currently the Associate Director of Development for Annual Giving. Over the past 6 years
at Miami, she has spent time in the athletic department and as an adjunct professor in the Sport
Leadership and Management (SLAM) program. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Sport
Management (University of Dayton, 2004), a Master’s degree in Educational Policy and
Leadership (University of Dayton, 2008) and a Juris Doctorate (University of Dayton, 2012). She
is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Culture, and Curriculum from Miami
University where she hopes to focus her research on and restorative justice practices in higher

Her time as a Division I softball collegiate athlete, studies and career experience in athletics and
as a professor has given her a great sense of how to cater to the educational needs of
students. Identifying and acquiring resources and funding for students to have access to
education, has thus far been the most rewarding part of her career.

When she is not at work or spending time with her family, she is committed to serving her
community. Service experiences include: a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for
abused, neglected, and dependent children in Montgomery County, the House of Bread soup
kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, Tornado relief, and Germantown Gators. Spencer and her wife are licensed foster and adoptive parents in Montgomery County. They adopted Alexander in May of 2018, Jay in April of 2019, and Johnathan in August 2019.

She and her family regularly attend St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oakwood, OH where she is a
member of the Vestry, Altar Guild, assists with leading the Youth Mission Project each summer,
and serves as a Lay Minister throughout the year.

They have four dogs, three hermit crabs, and two fish. Dogs: Raleigh (Chocolate Lab), Chloe (English
Setter), Levi (English Setter), and Oliver (Goldendoodle). Hermit Crabs: Herman, Sherman, and
Sauce. Fish: Jafar and Benny.

Christy McClure began working at Miami in 2010 and is currently the Senior Manager of Administrative Services and Assistant to the Senior Vice President in Enrollment Management and Student Success.

Marla Niebling

Marla Niebling (ex-officio)

Director of Employee and Labor Relations

Marla Niebling joined the HR team as the Director of Employee and Labor Relations in February 2018. She uses her expertise in a wide range of human resource areas as well as workforce policies with a collaborative approach to deliver proactive and strategic services to the university. She is a U.S. Navy veteran who served both on active duty during the Persian Gulf crisis and in the U.S. Naval Reserve. She works closely with administrators, managers and employees to understand their unique needs and objectives. Marla is a trusted partner that provides leadership, coaching, policy interpretation and management, labor contract negotiations/interpretations, as well as resolution guidance and support.

Global Initiatives, Assistant Director for Communications & Marketing

Karen O'Hara began working at Miami in 2005 and is currently the Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing for Global Initiatives. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Master of Technical and Scientific Communication (MTSC), both from Miami. She also teaches part-time for the EGS department on the Hamilton campus.

Tricia Price (2022)

Project Manager in Planning, Architecture & Engineering

Tricia Price joined Miami University in 2015 as a Project Manager for the Non-Capital Division located in Physical Facilities. Prior to joining Miami, she worked in the commercial construction industry for 21 years specifically working with Ohio Schools Facility Commission, now known as OFCC. Tricia is currently working toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce.

Eun Chong Yang

Eun Chong Yang (2021)

Associate Director of American Culture and English (ACE) Program

Eun Chong Yang is the Associate Director of the American Culture and English (ACE) Program. She earned a master’s degree in Multicultural Literature for Children at Xavier University and a doctoral degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from the University of Cincinnati (UC). She taught at UC for 14 years and came to Miami in 2014. Her expertise includes training preservice teachers/new instructors/faculty, teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) students, designing curriculum, and creating and administering assessments. She is the president of the International Faculty and Staff Association at Miami (IFSAM) and facilitates a Faculty Learning Community at the Center for Teaching Excellence to support international faculty and staff. She also serves on a Fulbright National Screening Committee selecting Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) semifinalists.
