There is a fee of $100 to participate, which covers a light lunch and refreshments and a table with two chairs to display your material. The deadline to register was Wednesday, October 9, 2024. No refunds will be given after this date.

   1. If you have had a Miami parking permit before, click "Reset forgotten password"
   2. If you are new to Miami, click "Create an account"
3. Once you are logged into your parking account, return to this email and click the permit registration link again to get a permit for the Law Fair.

What to Wear

While there is no dress code required, law schools may still be taking notes on who they meet with — consider the impression you are making! It is common to see juniors and seniors in business dress attire (suit or comparable) while first-year students and sophomores are often in business casual attire.

Year-By-Year Expectations

First and second year students are invited to take it all in — pick up literature from schools you think might interest you and listen to some of the questions upper-class students are asking (and the answers they are getting).

Juniors should use the Law Fair as a resource to figure out what they are looking for in a legal education and to start identifying which schools interest them. Be sure to do some preliminary research on schools you think you might apply to, but also feel free to engage with other law schools as well.

Seniors should use the Law Fair to get to know more about the law schools and introduce themselves as a potential applicant. If you are in the process of applying, try to stop by each school you're applying to and introduce yourself. All law schools track connections with students, whether it's via email, phone call, in-person, or at a Law Fair, so this is an opportunity to make a good impression.

Other Dos and Don'ts

The following suggestions are shared by Janet Hein, Director of Admissions at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law:

• Before the Expo
  • Research which schools will be attending.
  • Have at least 3 questions prepared (pointed and that reflect you did your research on each school).
• At the Expo
  • Do not be too familiar (treat the representatives with professional respect).
  • Be calm and pointed in asking questions.
  • Actively listen to the representative (do not just wait for your turn to talk).
  • Be respectful of the representative's time (they would like to talk to as many students at they can).
• After the Law Fair
  • Email a thank you to each representative that you talk to (within 24 hours). Protocol for emails:
    • Use Mr./Ms. or the representative's title (e.g., Dean).
    • Always use professional language. Do not use inappropriate language (even casually).
    • Be patient for a response.
    • Treat your email as if it were a writing sample.
    • Be precise and concise in your message.
    • Do not bombard them with additional emails.
