Next Steps for Accepted Students

You're almost a Miamian! Get ready to join our community of leaders, scholars, colleagues, and friends. As an accepted Miami Online student, below are your next steps to enroll at Miami.

After You Confirm

After accepting admission to Miami University, take the next steps.

Step 1. Submit Your Transcript(s)

You must have a final official transcript submitted to Miami University from the school where you earned your Bachelor's degree.  If you have not yet received your Bachelor's degree, wait until you receive your degree to request the transcript. If you took classes or earned a degree after earning your undergraduate degree, please also submit those final official transcripts. Applicants who earned a Miami degree or took Miami courses are not required to request/send transcripts from Miami University to itself.

We accept the following as final official transcripts:

  • A transcript sent directly from the school to Miami University Graduate Admission that shows you earned your Bachelor's degree.
  • A transcript submitted in a sealed envelope to Miami University Graduate Admission that shows you earned your Bachelor's degree.

Have your institution send final official transcript(s) to:

Miami University Graduate Admission
Nellie Craig Walker Hall
301 S. Campus Ave
Oxford, OH 45056

or by email to Grad_Transcripts@MiamiOH.edu.

If you had final official transcripts sent to the Graduate School when you applied for admission, you do not need to send them again. You can log into your applicant status portal to check the status of your official transcript(s).

Students who do not submit final official transcripts will have a Hold placed on their record and will not be allowed to register for classes after the first semester.

Step 2. Access Your Unique ID and Password

At Miami University, each student has a unique ID and password used to log in to many resources, including your MiamiOH email account. Your Unique ID is created for the duration of your association with the university. If you are a returning Miami student, your Unique ID will remain the same. As a graduate student, important university information, such as your Bursar bill, will be sent to your MiamiOH email address. You are responsible for accessing it regularly.

Click here to look up your Unique ID and MUnet Password. Your default MUnet password is the month and day of your birth and the last four digits of your Social Security Number (if applicable) OR the month and day of your birth and the last four digits of your Banner ID number (MMDDNNNN). Your Banner ID is shown at the beginning of your acceptance email, directly below your name. It may take up to five business days from the date of that letter for the Unique ID to be created. If you have difficulty logging in, please contact the help desk at Miami's IT Services at (513) 529-7900.

Step 3. Set up DUO two-factor authentification

Duo is a two-factor authentication tool that ensures your MU data is secure. When initially accessing any Miami University resource (i.e., BannerWeb, Canvas, myMiami), you will be prompted to enroll in DUO. After enrolling, you will continue to utilize DUO. For more information, visit IT Services' Duo page.
