At Miami University Regionals, you have choices that allow you to complete your courses in a way that fits within your goals. Most students take a mix of:

• Online: Courses that are delivered fully-online using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). These may be delivered with no scheduled live virtual meetings (ONLA) or with some required virtual live meetings (ONLS).
• Hybrid: Courses that are delivered with a mix of components, including required on-campus meetings and online course work. The may be delivered with no scheduled live virtual meetings (HYBA) or with some required live virtual meetings (HYBS).
• Face-to-Face: Courses delivered using traditional on-campus classroom instruction.

While specific requirements vary from course-to-course, all Miami courses will likely need the following to ensure you have what you need for keeping your courses on track using Canvas.

• Minimum technical equipment recommendations include:
• Updated computer/laptop
• High-speed internet access
• Auxiliary equipment, such as: webcam and noise-cancelling headphones or external speaker

• Zoom
  • Zoom is Miami's preferred video conferencing portals used primarily for remote and online learning. All faculty & staff have a zoom account and initiate meetings using their Miami University credentials. 
• WebEx
  • WebEx is one of Miami's video conferencing portals. All faculty & staff have a WebEx account and can initiate meetings. There is even a WebEx integration in Canvas Conferences.
• Google Apps
  • All Miamians have a Google account. You can send quick messages with Chat, send emails using Gmail, collaborate and store files using Drive, and schedule or participate in a video conference using Meet.
• Canvas Messages
  • Connect with your instructors and classmates directly through Canvas messages.
• Miami Directory

• The H.O.P.E. line is available 24/7 for students to call for immediate support, crisis intervention, and stabilization from a licensed mental health counselor. 855-249-5649.
