Matt attended Badin High School before coming to MUH. Matt played on the Harriers Baseball team from 2000-2002, and attended Miami University from 1999-2003, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, with an emphasis in Public Relations. In his three seasons as a Harrier, his batting averages were .381, .341, and .311, averaging .340 in 377 at bats, with 90 RBI’s. In all three seasons he was on the ORCC League and Tournament Championship teams. In 2000 Matt was Second Team all ORCC, and in 2002 he was ORCC All Academic. He will always be remembered for his stellar performance against the Miami University Redhawks in May, 2001, where he struck out 12 over nine innings, scattering 10 hits, in a 9-1 win over the Oxford Campus. That season he ended up with a 5-3 record and a 4.37 ERA. He played two years of college summer ball and two years of “30 and up baseball”. He currently works for the City of Hamilton as the Supervisor of Maintenance, and has been married for two years, and has one son and one daughter. His son is left handed, just like his dad and just started playing baseball this year. His daughter is an awesome soccer player.
