Service
Alexis' service stems from her clinical and simulation expertise and dedication to student success. As simulation champion within the Department of Nursing, Alexis has collaborated with Kettering Health Hamilton’s Birthing Unit to provide education and competency assessments through simulation to bedside nurses, promoting health, well-being, and safety of mothers and infants. She is a co-founder of the annual Miami Nursing Induction Ceremony, which has raised over $70,000 in donations to support the success of over 750 inducted nursing students since 2018. She served as faculty advisor to the Nursing Student Advisory Council from 2018-2022 and has served as president of the Omicron Chi chapter of Sigma Nursing Honors Society since 2020.
Research
Alexis's research interests focus on simulation, gaming, and other active teaching strategies within nursing education and the impact on clinical judgment attainment in both undergraduate students and practicing nurses. In addition, she examines different methods of impacting health outcomes in maternal-neonatal populations through education and practice.
