NATS Vocal Competition Winners

Miami voice students awarded top honors at the annual competition

Twenty Miami voice students participated in the National Association of Teachers of Singing vocal competition at Ohio State University on April 11, 2015. There were 220 total student participants from schools including Cleveland Institute of Music, Capital University, Ohio University,Central State, University of Toledo, Mansfield University, Ohio State, Kent State, Ohio Weslyn, Ohio Northern, Otterbein, Sinclair and many other schools too numerous to mention.

Of the twenty Miami student participants, almost 50% received special accolades and monetary awards. Students awarded were:

Freshman women: Rachel Brown 3rd place, Ali Hotz 4th place
Freshman men: Steele Fitzwater 2nd place
Sophomore women: Andrea Davies 2nd place
Junior women: Deana Williams 1st place
Senior women: Reba Herbst 2nd place
Advanced men: Chris Smith 2nd place
Non-traditional students: Grace Deer 2nd place, James Grant-Robertson 3rd place
