Women's Advisory Committee Member Spotlight: Lyndsey McMillon-Brown
McMillon-Brown completed her undergraduate degree at Miami, graduating in 2013 as a double major in manufacturing and mechanical engineering. After Miami, she attended Yale University and graduated in May of 2019 with a masters of science and a Ph.D in chemical engineering.

Society of Women Engineers (SWE) to attend national conference
From Nov. 7-9, five members of Miami’s chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) will be attending the SWE national conference located in Anaheim, CA.

CEC starts Mentoring Program for female students
On Oct. 22, a new initiative called the CEC Women’s Mentorship Program was kicked off in Benton 100, where over twenty female students in CEC met with female Miami alumnae who are currently working in the field.

Miami to host Dassault's Simulation on Wheels
On Oct. 25, Dassault Systèmes, an international company well-known for their software made for analysis and design, will bring their 3D Experience, Simulation on Wheels, to Miami’s campus.

During the first week of October, 18 of our female students, accompanied by associate professor Dr. Karen Davis, attended the Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) of Women in Computing in Orlando, FL.

Miami's Bioengineering Program prepares students for success
Since the 2014-2015 academic year, Miami has nearly quadrupled the number of students graduating with their Bachelor’s degree in this major as of last academic year (2017-2018), with an overall success rate of about 91%.

Dr. J Andrew Jones is published in his research on production of psilocybin
Dr. J. Andrew Jones, Ph.D, assistant professor in the Department of Chemical, Paper and Biomedical Engineering, has been published in the Metabolic Engineering journal for his latest work in the production of the psychoactive compound psilocybin through engineered bacteria.

SEEC Scholar-in-Residence Dr. Donna Riley speaks about the future of engineering and society
This week, Dr. Donna Riley, PhD, FASEE served as Miami University’s SEEC Scholar-in-Residence. As a current Professor and Kamyar Hadhighi Head at Purdue’s School of Engineering Education, she has contributed significantly to the engineering and computing fields throughout her career, and continues to do so.
