Accounting Research Workshop Welcomes University of Kentucky's Dan Stone

September 2013

On September 13, faculty and graduate students will meet with Dan Stone, a professor at U.K.'s Von Allmen School of Accountancy, to talk about his working paper, "A Mindfulness Means to Professional Skepticism: A Conceptual View and Advocacy for an Endogenous Auditor Mind," which he is co-authoring with colleague Yu-Tzu Chang.

The Accountancy Department hosts "research workshops" like this to provide faculty a chance to see what kinds of research their colleagues are doing and for them to receive feedback from their peers. A visiting professor will spend 90 minutes talking about their work and then sit down and have a conversation with the gathered faculty about issues they are trying to work through, where their paper should go, and other relevant topics of discussion related to their endeavors.

Graduate students are encouraged to attend. "It might be useful if they are considering teaching," noted Annie Farrell, PricewaterhouseCoopers Assistant Professor of Accountancy.

The next research workshop will welcome Dr. Marc Epstein, a Professor of Management from Rice University's Jones Graduate School of Business, November 6 to 8. Details will be announced soon. This Friday's workshop will be held in 2041 FSB from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Faculty members of other departments and graduate students are encouraged to attend.
