To welcome the arrival of the 2019 Year of the Pig, students and faculty of the Confucius Institute at Miami University were invited to participate in various events across the state of Ohio during the month of February to display a variety of customs surrounding the Lunar New Year.

The Confucius Institute supported new year activities for 15 local schools in addition to various organizations.

Confucius Institute student clubs demonstrated their skills and performed at New Year events at the Greater Cincinnati Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Ohio Chinese Festival in Columbus, Dayton Chinese School, General Electric (GE) headquarters, Brookville Middle School and Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy.

Additionally, the Confucius Institute coordinated with the Oxford Community Arts Center to hold a month-long exhibition of Chinese culture and art, which was divided into four sections: clothing, instruments, calligraphy and tea.

These events concluded a month-long celebration of the Lunar New Year, where the Confucius Institute was glad to be able to exhibit Chinese culture throughout the state of Ohio with club performances and demonstrations in addition to artistic displays.
