Senate News, November 18, 2019

Senators continued discussion on the Ad-Hoc Committee on Composition's final report. Senators continued discussion on SR 20-04, which would allow two senators to be included on any newly formed committee as part of the Strategic Plan initiative. Provost Osborne introduced two resolutions regarding TCPL faculty. The first was to change the language of the Grandfather Clause in MUPIM 7.11. The second was to remove the cap for TCPL faculty. Discussion will continue regarding the cap limitation at the December 2, 2019, meeting.

The November 4, 2019, minutes were approved.

The following reports and minutes were received on the Consent Calendar:

  1. Curriculum (all approved except the FIN and KNH major revisions)

  2. Annual Review of Probationary Faculty (MUPIM 7.5) – Revision

  3. Proposal to Revise Time Limit Policies

  4. Proposal to Revise Exceptions to Scholastic Regulations Policy

  5. Name change of IMS Department

With the approval of the November 4, 2019, minutes, the following resolutions were approved:

November 4, 2019

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that University Senate endorse the proposed degree, Bachelor of Science in Business, with a major in Business Analytics, Farmer School of Business;

AND FURTHERMORE, that the endorsement by University Senate of the proposed degree and major will be forwarded to the Miami University Board of Trustees for consideration.

SR 20-05 passed unanimously by voice vote.

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that University Senate endorse the proposed degree, Master of Science in Business Management, with a major in Business Administration, Farmer School of Business;

AND FURTHERMORE, that the endorsement by University Senate of the proposed degree and major will be forwarded to the Miami University Board of Trustees for consideration.

SR 20-06 passed unanimously by voice vote.
