Miami's public health program engineers a new contact tracing program for Butler County to fight COVID-19
Early this summer, after the COVID-19 pandemic had already swept across the country and shut down college campuses and businesses around the world, Miami's public health program began to put together a plan to help track the virus's rampant spread throughout the local community.

New majors, a new department, approved by Miami trustees
Miami University trustees at their May 17 meeting approved the establishment of two bachelor of arts degrees — one with a major in data analytics and one with a major in organizational leadership — both in the College of Arts and Science.

Mentorship and collaboration: research making a difference in the lives of Ohio families
This summer Sara Stemen and Leah Janssen, PhD students in Social Gerontology, mentored five undergraduate students working on a statewide nursing home and residential care facility family satisfaction survey that provides data for Ohio's Long-term Care Consumer Guide.

Whelpton Memorial Lecture Series brings a nationally known scholar to Miami University each fall. This lecture, established in 1986, honors the memory of Pascal Whelpton who served from 1953-1963 as one of the early directors of what is now Scripps Gerontology Center.
