Legends and Lore Come to Life in 'Echoes of Miami'

Ghostly encounters await the audience as the Miami University Theatre Department presents Echoes of Miami, a walking tour led by three embodiments of Helen Peabody with distinct personalities. Performances run from October 18-21 at the Gates-Abegglen Theatre.

The "Helens" direct the audience on a journey of local histories, legends, and lore. The audience is introduced to the hauntings and mysteries of Miami University’s campus in the format of short plays staged around the Center for Performing Arts.

These short plays, written entirely by Miami University students, transcend genre and time period, and celebrate the comedy, horror, and myths that have defined Oxford for centuries. "All the stories are based on actual history or real reportings (at least according to the internet)," said creator/producer and assistant professor of theatre Saffron Henke. "We hope to bring our community together for fun, fright, and celebration of our collective Miami and Oxford history."

Age recommendation: 13+. The language and elements of fear that are utilized may not be suitable for smaller children.
