McCutcheon Wins First Place for Guitar Concerto

Jim McCutcheon and guitarGuitar faculty James McCutcheon was awarded first place in the 2019 Adult Composers Competition, sponsored by the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs (OFMC) Foundation for the Advancement of Music.

OFMC is a part of the National Federation of Music Clubs, the largest philanthropic music organization in the world dedicated to Music Education and the promotion of Creative and Performing Arts in the U.S.

McCutcheon's entry, the third movement of his work Mirkin Concerto for Classical Guitar and Strings, was honored on the basis of musicianship, creative ability, and technical excellence.

McCutcheon has performed all over Ohio as well as in England and Russia, and has recordings and several publications to his name. He is a recipient of the 2017 Ohio Governors Award for the Arts and has produced a weekly classical guitar program, The Intimate Guitar, on Dayton Public Radio for over twenty years.
