Two Social Work Students Selected to Represent Miami University in the Propel Ohio Collegiate Leadership Summit

Two of our Department of Family Studies and Social Work students, Veronica Redbud and Tiffany Holmes, were selected in a competitive application process to represent Miami University in the Propel Ohio Collegiate Leadership Summit hosted by Senator Sherrod Brown. The one day leadership program promoted civic engagement and featured U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown and workshops for future Ohio leaders. Topics included food security, mental health and human trafficking. Here’s a message from Veronica Redbud, one of the recipients, “I have been working with individuals that are effected by the topics of food security, mental health and human trafficking for the last three years while living in Butler County. My work includes working with the homeless women population at the YWCA Hamilton, in the field of substance abuse at Sojourner Recovery Services, as well as seeking to start a new agency as the Co-Founder of Transitions Community Services that serves the re-entry population and their families. I was excited to learn more from the summit.” Thank you Veronica and Tiffany for your leadership and for representing Miami University and our Social Work Program!
