Time to don your mittens and donate
November 2016
Elizabeth Jenike
You’ve probably seen the red paper mittens decorating the windows of Student Services on the first floor of FSB. The Business Student Advisory Council is once again sponsoring the Red Mitten Campaign, going on now until December 16.
Each year, BSAC puts on this campaign in order to collect items to help families in need within the local Oxford community. The mittens in the windows of Student Services each have an item written on them, from lists provided by Kramer Elementary School and Talawanda High School - the idea is for those who wish to donate to pick out a mitten, purchase that item and then bring it back to the donation bins in Student Services (FSB 1022).
Items range from “needs” to “wants” and could include:
The drive is an important demonstration of Farmer students’ dedication to and inclusion within the larger Oxford community. The holidays provide a chance to help out families in need and to show support for our community. Faculty, students and staff are all encouraged to participate.
“The Red Mitten Campaign is so important, as it serves as a reminder that the holiday season can be difficult for many families, especially for children who do not receive presents like their classmates,” said Megan Schulte, the vice president of service for BSAC. “This drive is a great opportunity for both students and Farmer faculty to give back. We have many Farmer faculty members that look forward to participating each year.”
The deadline for bringing in donations for the Red Mitten Campaign is December 16, but the earlier you get them in, the better! For more information, please contact Megan at schultm5@miamioh.edu
