Lisa Ellram honored as 2018 Miami University Distinguished Scholar

April 2018

Lisa M. Ellram, Rees Distinguished Professor of Supply Chain Management, has been selected by the university as a 2018 Miami University Distinguished Scholar.

She is the first Farmer School faculty member to be awarded this prestigious honor. As noted on the program website, the Distinguished Scholar Awards Program celebrates the accomplishments of outstanding Miami scholars each year. The award honors faculty whose sustained excellence in research or other creative activity has brought them prominence in their fields.

Winning awards for her scholarly research isn’t something new for Dr. Ellram. In the past five years, she has had her work published in 30 refereed publications and proceedings and has been an invited speaker or lecturer 56 times, around the world. She has thousands of Google Scholar citations for her work. But this award is special. Exemplary Miami faculty members are nominated by their peers to be recognized for superior research and scholarly activities.

Ellram commented, “I feel very honored to receive the University Distinguished Scholar Award, and represent the Farmer School of Business. I really love doing research. It gives me the opportunity to gain insight into problems that interest me, and share that knowledge with my peers in academia, my students, and the business world. Supply chain management has been a fantastic area for research. It is emerging and evolving at the same time, so there is always something new and exciting to study.”

The award includes not only a plaque in honor of the achievement, but a stipend that can be used for any university-approved professional expense.
