11 HWC Consultants Honored with Multiple Awards and Publications!

As we began to near graduation 2019, an impressive number of our HWC consultants began racking up awards and honors. Here are some of note:
Ellen Stenstrom received the President's Distinguished Service Award. You can read more about it here.
Evelynne La and Selena Pickett published their co-authored article in Critical Studies on Terrorism, entitled "Framing Boko Haram’s female suicide bombers in mass media: an analysis of news articles post Chibok abduction." You can read that here.
Quinn Karrenbauer was accepted into the Undergraduate Summer Scholars program.
Leah Gaus received a summer marketing internship at the literary journal Ploughshares.
Graduate consultant Hua Zhu received a College of Arts and Science Graduate Student Teaching Award, and was also awarded a Scholars for the Dream Travel Award, 2019, from the Conference on College Composition and Communication.
In the English Department more specifically,
- Mikel Prater won a Craver-Overton Scholarship.
- Quinn Karrenbauer won a Robert R. Kettler Memorial Scholarship.
- Mikel Prater & Leah Gaus each won a Carl R. Greer/ Andrew D. Hepburn Awards in English.
- Phoebe Myers & Aislyn Gilbert each won a Walter Havighurst Prize.
- Phoebe Myers won a Senior Prize for Creative Work.
- Ellen Stenstrom won a Senior Prize for Public or Non-Academic Audience.
- Anna Jankovsky won a Senior Prize for Critical Essay.
Graduate consultants Hua Zhu and Megan Schoettler were awarded the English Department's Outstanding Teacher Award. - Hua Zhu also received an English Fellowship for the academic year 19-20, for her dissertation research.
