National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo) is an annual event that encourages writers to craft 1,500 words per day throughout the month of November, making a total of 50,000 words by month's end.
The Howe Writing Center (HWC) will be supporting writers at Miami as they pursue their NaNoWriMo goals with prizes at four different word-count milestones:
- 5,000 words: snack bag
- 15,000 words: HWC mug with goodies
- 30,000 words: Moleskine journal
- 50,000 words: $50 gift card
How to participate:
- Sign up for an account on the NaNoWriMo website and log your progress there, or keep track of your word count on your own.
- To claim your prize at each milestone, come to the HCWE reception desk in King Library and share proof of your word count with a member of the Support Staff.
With your permission, we will also take a photo of you and your prize to share on social media. So, good luck and happy writing! We'll be seeing you around the HWC.
As a reminder, the HWC is located in King Library, straight ahead from the main entrance. We're Open Monday–Thursday 10:00AM–9:00PM, Friday 10:00AM–5:00PM, and Sunday 10:00AM-9:00 PM.
