Mental Health

It is natural that the uncertainty and new routines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic may lead to or exacerbate mental health concerns. Self-care is essential during this time. Miami will continue to provide students with options for confidential, professional counseling services (individual/personal counseling, group counseling, couples counseling, crisis consultation, etc.) on a variety of presenting concerns. When appropriate, referrals are made to community therapists or agencies.

To accommodate student needs, we offer options for both in-person and telecounseling. Please note that due to licensing requirements, telecounseling is only available to those physically residing in the State of Ohio. Students will work with their counselor to determine which mode of treatment, in-person or telecounseling, is most appropriate for their needs.

The H.O.P.E. (Help Over the Phone Everywhere) line is available 24/7 for students to call for immediate support, crisis intervention, and stabilization from a licensed mental health counselor. The H.O.P.E. Line is not an answering service, but rather an extension of university services for callers.

Comprehensive medication management and psychiatric care are provided by TriHealth at the Student Health Service.
