Health Communication is the study and practice of using "communication strategies to inform and influence individual health related decisions that enhance health" (CDC). Ultimately, the goal of health communication is to improve quality of life and public health. Understanding the role of communication in influencing individual health decisions and overall health outcomes is a crucial skill that prepares you for a variety of careers. Grounded in an integrative understanding of the relationship between theory and praxis, the program emphasizes human identity and diversity, quantitative and qualitative research competency, 21st century communication skills, and public advocacy.
