2019 ITC Award for Excellence in E-Learning

Nursing Care of Older Adults (NSG 461), awarded the 2019 Outstanding Online Course by the Instructional Technology Council, was developed through a strong partnership with Miami Regionals nursing faculty, Karen Brown and E-Campus Instructional Designer, Brigid Naglich.

NSG 461 examines holistic nursing care by tackling sensitive subject matters that incorporate an empathy-based focus to humanize the elderly patient through a wide spectrum of difficult and sensitive topics such as; from Ageism, Transtheoretical Model of Change Sexual Function / Intimacy, Depression & Suicide in Later Life, Neglect, all the way through End of Life Care. The course design included innovative and interactive photography and ideography to create authentic learning experiences for nursing students that are not only informative but challenge critical thinking for professional nursing practitioners.

"Uniquely Miami" is the foundation of Miami Regionals E-Campus success where Miami Faculty partner with Miami E-Campus professionals to design intentional online student learning experiences that promote engagement and authentic learning that is relevant and impactful.

ITC Outstanding Online Course Criteria:

Only online courses developed in-house at a post-secondary institution will be considered. The course must be designed with a high level of interactivity, multimedia, communication, and a variety of instructional and course management strategies. These strategies must be replicable and assist an instructor to facilitate more effectively; continuously evaluate student performance and course quality; and provide an outstanding educational experience for the students. Information about the course will be gathered from the application and access to the course for verification and review will be used for the evaluation.

ITC Announces the Recipients of the ITC 2019 Awards for Excellence in eLearning

Congratulations to these outstanding award recipients! The innovation and diligence exemplified by each award winner mark them as exemplary members of our community. Judges included members of the ITC board of directors, past award winners, and attendees at ITC’s annual Leadership Academy. The judging panels carefully reviewed each nomination, the accompanying Web site or online course materials, and held each of the winners to the high standards and best-practices exemplified by previous ITC award winners. This recognition is extremely well-deserved.

These outstanding distance educators will be recognized at a special Recognition Luncheon on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at the Charleston Marriott in Charleston, SC at the 2020 Annual Conference - eLearning. ITC will provide a registration discount to each award recipient to attend the 2020 Annual Conference - eLearning on February 9-12, 2020 in Charleston, so they can accept their award. At the presentation, a member from each panel of judges will briefly share how each recipient was innovative, unique, or exemplary.

The Instructional Technology Council (ITC)

The Instructional Technology Council has been around since 1977. They are a well respected national organization and an affiliate to the American Association of Community colleges with 200 members and organizations. They produce a journal as well as a national conference each year. Award nominations are submitted annually from all across the nation and level of higher ed institutions.
