The mission of the Miami University Skating Academy is to promote participation in figure skating to all ages and abilities in a positive and safe environment. The Skating Academy is committed to providing quality programs, instruction, and leadership in an atmosphere of mutual respect. As role models we will strive to inspire our skaters with an emphasis on effort, goal setting, and good sportsmanship, celebrating the achievements of our skaters on and off the ice. We hope to instill a passion and connection to skating that will last a life time!
Full Membership | $185
- The skater that enrolls in a full membership has completed at least the first level of US Figure Skating testing. Once the skater has passed Pre-Preliminary Moves in the Field, they are now a full member with US Figure Skating.
- Full Membership includes a membership for a parent and skater within their immediate family to US Figure Skating, subscription to the monthly Skating magazine, club communication, priority registration for test sessions and in-club test fees for Miami University Skating Club, ISI Membership, and a complimentary 6-week on-ice clinic in September/October. The 6-week clinic will be held on September 10, 24, October 1, 8, 15 & 22 from 10:15–11:45 a.m. (time varies depending on level).
Jr. Membership | $135
- The skater that enrolls in a Jr Membership has not yet tested any US Figure Skating level, but is allowed to test throughout the year.
- Jr. Membership includes membership to US Figure Skating, subscription to the monthly Skating magazine, club communication, priority registration for test sessions, ISI Membership, and a complimentary 6-week on-ice clinic in September/October. The 6-week clinic will be held on September 10, 24, October 1, 8, 15 & 22 from 10:15–11:45 a.m. (time varies depending on level).
Basic Membership | $50
The BASIC Membership is for all Basic Skills members interested in competing at our annual ISI Competition held in February. Membership includes ISI membership, Holiday Exhibition participation, MU Parking Pass, and involvement in all Skating Academy social and skating events. This membership additionally allows our skaters to become an Associate member of the US Figure Skating organization
The Goggin Ice Center offers private lessons for skaters of all levels. Our professional staff provides instruction in a variety of disciplines including: Basic Skills, Freestyle, Ice Dance, Moves in the Field, Choreography, and Synchronized Skating Skills. Lessons are offered during freestyle sessions. Our coaching staff includes elite and professional coaches with varying rates. To find a coach best suited for your skater's needs contact Jeannie Clay.
Freestyle sessions are special ice times reserved for figure skaters to practice individually and have private lessons with an instructor. Freestyle sessions are for skaters at USFS Basic 6 and/or ISI Gamma levels and above, unless otherwise arranged with the Skating Director. Goggin offers College Freestyle Sessions (CFS), and General Freestyles (FS) to accommodate all skaters.
Offered on Tuesdays from 6:30–7:00 p.m., this class is designed for skaters working on Preliminary moves and above to develop strength, speed, and agility on the ice. This is accomplished through challenging drills and patterns that focus on creating an effortless generation of power. Highly recommended for any skater working towards completion of their moves in the field tests.
Offered on Mondays from 6:30–7:00 p.m., this class is designed for skaters working on Basic 5 and above to develop posture, edge control, and power. This class prepares skaters for the Pre-Preliminary moves in the field test.
